JamBoards, answered.
JamBoards is a live wallboard service: you design boards in the browser, pair any screen with a modern browser by typing a code, and update the wall from scripts, the REST API or AI agents over MCP. Below are straight answers about hardware, data, agents, pricing and security.
Using JamBoards
What is JamBoards?
JamBoards turns any TV, monitor or Raspberry Pi into a live wallboard: design boards in the browser, pair a screen with a code, and push data and alerts to it from scripts, the REST API or AI agents over MCP. It is built for homes, offices and operations rooms that want live information on the wall without a signage contract.
What hardware do I need for a JamBoards wall?
Any screen with a modern browser. A Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 in kiosk mode is the tested setup, with a script that provisions it. Fire TV and Android TV work through a kiosk browser, and Windows mini PCs through a Chrome kiosk shortcut. Smart TVs as old as Chrome 106 are supported.
How do I connect a screen to JamBoards?
Open the JamBoards device page on the screen and it shows a pairing code. Type that code under Devices, Add device, then pick the display it should play. For TVs and kiosk apps that only accept a URL, create a device link instead and paste it in.
How do I send data to a JamBoards wall?
Write to a named data source over the REST API, with a scoped API key, or ask an AI agent to do it over MCP. Every widget bound to that source updates live on every wall showing it. Scripts can also push notifications that overlay a wall.
Does JamBoards work with AI agents like Claude?
Yes. JamBoards runs an MCP server, so an agent with an API key can list and edit boards, write data, notify walls, control displays and pair screens. Each tool checks the key’s scopes, and tools that delete or revoke ask for confirmation first.
How is JamBoards different from digital signage software?
Signage tools play slides and video on a schedule. JamBoards is built for live information: widgets bind to data that changes, alerts interrupt the wall, and everything is controllable from scripts and AI agents. It also reads Home Assistant, calendars, cameras and Spotify out of the box.
Pricing
How much does JamBoards cost?
Free costs nothing (1 screen); Home is $6 per month (up to 5 screens); Pro is $4 per screen per month (unlimited screens). Paid plans billed yearly get 2 months free.
What counts as a screen?
A screen is one paired device: a TV, monitor or Raspberry Pi that plays a wall. Plans count paired screens. Several screens can play the same display, such as two TVs in one lobby, and each counts once.
Can I try JamBoards before paying?
Yes. The Free plan runs one screen with no time limit, so you can pair a TV or a Raspberry Pi and see a live wall before choosing a plan.
Security
Can someone else open my wall by guessing its address?
No. Walls play only on screens you have paired. An unpaired browser that opens a wall address sees a pairing code, not your board, and a revoked screen goes dark at once.
How does JamBoards store passwords and tokens?
Camera passwords, Home Assistant tokens and connected account tokens are encrypted at rest and write-only: no API answer, MCP tool or export ever returns them. Errors are scrubbed of secrets before they are stored or shown.
What can a wall screen see?
Only what its active board shows. A wall asks JamBoards for each camera frame, calendar or Home Assistant state, and JamBoards checks on every request that the board names it. A screen never receives a token or a password.
