What can be a JamBoards screen?
Any screen with a modern browser. These are the setups JamBoards is tested on:
| Screen | How it runs JamBoards | Pairs by |
|---|---|---|
| Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 | Chromium in kiosk mode under cage, set up by a provisioning script |
Code |
| Fire TV or Android TV | A kiosk browser app such as Fully Kiosk Browser | Device link |
| Windows mini PC | A Chrome kiosk shortcut in the Startup folder | Code |
| Any laptop or monitor | A full-screen browser tab | Code |
The oldest browser JamBoards supports on a wall is Chrome 106, which covers most smart TVs and set-top boxes sold since 2022.
How do I pair a screen by code?
- Open the JamBoards device page in the screen’s browser.
- The screen shows a pairing code. Codes expire after 10 minutes and a new one appears.
- In JamBoards, open Devices and choose Add device.
- Type the code, give the screen a name, and pick the display it should play.
The screen starts playing at once. From then on it follows whatever you assign it, and switches live when you change the display or revoke the screen.
How do I pair a TV that only takes a URL?
Kiosk apps on a Fire TV or Android TV often accept a start URL but no typing. For those, create a device link under Devices > Add device and paste it into the kiosk app as its start page. The link pairs that one screen. If it leaks, regenerate it and the old link stops working.
What happens when I revoke a screen?
It goes dark immediately and shows nothing from your account again. A revoked screen can only be deleted; to use it again, pair it as new.
